Data Entry Form

Data Entry Form which covers data items recommended by the "Guidelines for Harmonizing Ocean Surface Microplastic Monitoring Methods" is available to data providers.
Saving data in the format is recommended. Data compiled in the provider's own format may also be accepted, with prior consultation with the Database Administrator.

Submission Method

When you provide data to AOMI, please agree to Creative Commons License and fill in your e-mail address, name and organization.

Data provider's rights can be defined in the Creative Commons License. Please kindly agree to the data policy set by the database administrator when you provide data to AOMI.

Data policy

Multiple Stages of Data Submission

Data can be submitted on multiple stages (shown as green boxes in the figure below).
Data providers can provide data in multiple batches by stages (e.g. after completion of Survey (Cruise), after Laboratory analysis, publication of a research paper. They may also choose to provide the full data after the paper is published.
Information on research status is particularly useful for survey planning of AOMI users. For this reason, provision of Field survey data immediately after completion of Survey (cruise) is greatly appreciated. Provided data on Field survey will be reflected in Survey Point Map or Survey Frequency Grid Map.

Confirmation After Submitting the Data

Data providers may be asked by database administrator to confirm, add or modify data according to Quality Control procedures.

  • Our administrators will review the data, if there is any question, we may contact you via email to request data revisions and resubmission.
  • Terms of data submission
  • Individual data records will be provided to those who have agreed to use them within the scope permitted by their respective Creative Commons licenses.
  • We will use the data you provide to create charts and graphics in this database. The charts and graphics created will be distributed under a Creative Commons license (CC-BY-SA), with the condition that proper attribution to this database is given.
